The first bi-annual reunion for those who served aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Westwind WAGB 281 was held in August 2000 in Milwaukee, WI. The entire event was made possible by one of our shipmates Frank Roberts who's enthusiasm and foresight made it happen. Frank took the time and effort to contact as many shipmates as possible by calling Coast Guard Headquarters and getting a list of personnel who served on board from its commissioning in March 1943 to its de-commissioning in February 1988. He then contacted the host hotel in Milwaukee, WI, made the arrangements and blocked out a group of rooms to accomodate the number of people that he thought would attend. All of this was done at his own expense. At the reunion in August 2000 the Westwind Association was formed and has thrived continuously to the present day. During the reunion the following Executive Board Members were elected:
